Blog Entry #8 Impact of advertising for kids & young adults

Growing up we have all seen thousands of advertisements that targeted us specifically and usually made us want to buy what they are selling. And we also were extremely upset and even was on the urge of throwing a tantrum when we did not get what we wanted. This is what these ads want they want little kids to get interested in this "amazing new product for only $19.99!" But In reality, it is just a bunch of scams urging kids to waste their parent's money and the corporates make profits because of this. Huge corporations like McDonald's constantly make commercials of their happy meals and the all carry toys inside that kids can not resist. This causes children to buy tons of happy meals because they want to collect every single toy available and this could cause obesity at a very young age. When kids get older, they are exposed to a whole new world of advertisements and many can be very inappropriate for their ages. Teenagers love to spend money and advertisers know this because they target them on the apps they use. Social media is a huge place where sellers can target teenagers Instagram also is known to be listening to what you are saying or browsing on the internet and then magically pops up on your feed wanting you to be interested in the Ad and spend your money; because hey you were talking about it a second ago right? Some advertisements even target teens to want to Jule or worse smoke cigarettes. It is important that we notice what advertisements can do to growing children early on so we can keep them away from greedy sellers targeting them for corporate gain.
